Constitution Week

#tbt to last September’s Constitution Week activities.

I collaborated with North Carolina State University history faculty and the student body to read the Constitution and Bill of Rights on the Brickyard. The event was a small success, with some students stopping to listen to our reading, some participating, and some taking copies of the Bill of Rights.

I am in the Daughters of the American Revolution, and this is a yearly activity many DAR women participate in. It is a non-political activity, and its only purpose is to educate our citizens about the structure of our governmental laws. I want to share this activity with others to encourage educators, volunteers, and museum professionals to set aside time September 17-23 to create some kind of program that educates our citizens.

You can read the Constitution, make quizzes, and even ring a bell at 4pm for the “Bells Across America” event. If you are in the Piedmont Triad area and are interested in having a DAR chapter host this event, please contact me.
